0-Arrive Osaka

- PM: Conrad Hotel. Transfer from Osaka's Kansai International Airport by Destination Asia Japan

1- Osaka

FREE TIME ALL DAY

AM: Conrad Hotel. After breakfast, walk two miles along the Tosabori River to the Osaka Castle

- 5:30 PM - Tour Begins. Tauck Exclusive includes a welcome reception, a Geiko / Geisha cultural lecture and performance, and a welcome dinner.

2-Temples and traditions of Kyoto

- AM: Travel to nearby Kyoto. Includes Kinkaku-ji "Temple of the Golden Pavilion" and the Sanjusangen-do, a Buddhist temple officially called "Rengeo-in" ("Hall of the Lotus King").
- Lunch 
- PM Attend a traditional Japanese Taiko drumming experience and explore more of Kyoto before returning to your hotel in Osaka. (Please note: Sightseeing on Days 2 and 3 may alternate.)
- Dinner at hotel

3- Exploring historic Nara

- AM: Visit Nara's Todai-ji (Great Eastern Temple) that includes the world's largest bronze statue of the Buddha Vairocana, known in Japanese as Daibutsu. Part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site officially called the "Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara," Todai-ji temple also serves as headquarters of the Kegon school of Buddhism in Japan. 
- Lunch
- PM: Visit to the Kasuga-Taisha (known as the Kasuga Grand Shrine) a Shinto shrine found in Nara. Known for its many bronze and stone lanterns that lead up to the shrine. On the way pass through Deer Park where more than 1,200 wild sika deer roam. 
- Dinner - ON OUR OWN.

4-Osaka discoveries & embark

- AM: Bus/walking tour Osaka markets. 
- Lunch:
- PM: FREE TIME, drive to port, and bound for Uno Ko and Naoshima.
- Dinner - on board

5-Art, bicycling & beer in Uno Ko & environs

- AM: Anchor in Tamano (Uno Ko) with a walking tour of its historic quarter.
- Lunch
- PM: Excursion choice: Ferry to Naoshimabicycle ride through Uno Ko, or visit to Kirin Yokohama Beer Village
- Dinner: Captain's welcome dinner.

6-Today's Hiroshima

- AM: Visit the Hiroshima Peace Memorial and sites associated with the WWII  
- Lunch:
- PM: Visit Miyajima-Itsukushima Shrine 
- Dinner - on board

7-Choices galore in Uwajima

- AM/Lunch/PM: Excursion choice: 1) Pearl farm and the 16th-century Dairaku-ji temple, known as Musasabi-dera ("Flying Squirrel Temple") for a Buddhist monk-led tour of the premises, 2) Nanrakuen Garden including a calligraphy demonstration and a tea ceremony, 3) Danbata (terraced fields) and a forest walk to a  waterfall in Yakushidani Canyon
- Dinner - on board.

8-From a volcano to a peace museum in Kagoshima

- AM/Lunch/PM: A short ferry ride to see Sakurajima ("Cherry Blossom Island"), an active volcano. Excursion choices 1) Sengan-en Garden or 2) Chiran Peace Museum for Kamikaze Pilots, 
- Dinner - on board 

9-A day well spent in Nagasaki

- AM: Visit the Nagasaki Peace Park, graced with notable monuments  and memorials, and the Atomic Bomb Museum, recounting the devastating events that occurred on August 9, 1945 when an atomic bomb was dropped on the city. 
- Lunch on board
- PM: Excursion choices 1) Visit to Glover Gardens and Dejima, or 2) on the Mt. Inasa Ropeway to the top of Mt. Inasa
- Dinner - on board.

10-Sail on to Busan in South Korea

- AM: Cross the Strait of Korea to Busan and after docking do a city sightseeing includes the United Nations Memorial Cemetery and a tour of the Jagalchi Fish Market, 
- Lunch
- PM: Set sail
for Sakaiminato.
- Dinner - on board 

11-Sakaiminato and Matsue's black castle

- AM: Arrive in Sakaiminato and visit to the Adachi Museum.
- Lunch
- PM; Excursion choices - 1) Matsue, 2) the Black Castle, or 3) FREE TIME - Sakaiminato 
- Dinner on board

12-Bullet Train to Tokyo

- AM: take bullet train to Tokyo. 
- Lunch:
- PM: Check in to Mandarin Hotel and join for a walking tour to the famed luxury shopping district of Ginza.
- Dinner - ON OUR OWN .

13-From shrines to sumo in Tokyo

- AM: Visit to the Meiji Shrine, a guided tour of the Japan National Museum
- Lunch
- PM: FREE TIME
- Dinner - farewell reception with traditional music and sumo wrestling

14-Journey home

- AM - FREE TIME

- PM (around 3 PM) transfer from the Mandarin Oriental to Haneda Airport. Allow a minimum of three hours for flight check-in.
